How do I upload my handwriting for engraving?

To upload your handwriting for engraving, use a black marker to write your custom message on a plain, unlined piece of white paper. 

The message on the black pocket knife will look exactly as you wrote it, so please make sure you’re 100% satisfied with the handwriting before proceeding.

When you’re happy with the handwritten message, use a phone or camera to take a picture of the handwritten note on the piece of paper. Or, use a scanner to scan the image directly to your computer.

At the top of this page, you’ll see a ‘Choose file’ option below the price and quantity. Click it to upload your file. When you place your order, the file will be sent directly to us.

What should I use to write my handwritten message?

To ensure that the engraving on your black pocket knife is crisp and clear, use a BLACK marker with a fairly thick tip. We’ve found that a classic Sharpie produces excellent results.

Please note that a standard pen is NOT suitable for handwriting on personalized gifts, as the handwriting will be too thin to be engraved.

How long should my handwritten message be?

We strongly recommend keeping the message short and sweet to maximize the visual impact. The longer the massage, the smaller the engraving. For example, the “I love you, Daddy” message in the example image is a great fit.
